Roughly 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.
City officials said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official stated the incident left him stunned and had to be solved promptly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
